Peer review process

Once it has been confirmed that a submission complies with the requirements set forth in our Guidelines for Authors and the article is approved to start the editorial process in the Revista Colombiana de Ortopedia y Traumatología, it will be submitted for evaluation by expert peer reviewers. The Editor and the Editorial Coordinator will assign two or more peer reviewers to each article. In case two or more peers reject the article, the submission will be rejected; for it to be approved, at least two peer reviewers must issue an approving decision (accept conditionally, accept without modifications).

The evaluation of the articles is double blind. Peer reviewers will have 20 working days to deliver their feedback; if necessary, an extension of 20 working days will be granted.

In addition, to avoid delays in evaluation times, once approved for the peer review stage, the article is sent to an average of 6 peer reviewers. Peer reviewers can be Colombia or from other countries.

The following evaluation formats are used:

Original article  Case report  Reflection paper  Current concepts
