About the Journal
The Colombian Journal of Orthopedics and Traumatology (ISSN 0120-8845 and e-ISSN: 2256-490X) is an open-access scientific journal published by the Colombian Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology (SCCOT). The journal publishes articles in Spanish and English on orthopedics and traumatology, as well as related areas concerning the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. The journal aims to disseminate high-quality articles that are relevant both nationally and internationally, thanks to the implementation of a rigorous peer-review process conducted by expert reviewers and the editorial team.
The journal was first published in 1987, and since 2013, its content has been published exclusively in digital format. Additionally, in January 2025, it transitioned from a quarterly publication model (four volumes per year) to a continuous publication model (one volume per year), and all articles are published in English and Spanish.
The journal publishes the following types of articles: original research, case reports, reviews (systematic reviews and/or meta-analyses, scoping reviews, and literature reviews following the PRISMA methodology), reflections, current concepts, letters to the editor, and editorials. With the exception of letters to the editor and editorials, all articles undergo a double-blind peer review process.
Articles must be submitted to the journal through our OJS portal (Submissions tab). Before submitting, authors must ensure that their article is unpublished and strictly complies with all the criteria set forth in our Guidelines for Authors, according to the article type. Articles may be written in Spanish or English; however, articles in English must comply with the specific language requirements available in the “Languages of Submission and Language of Final Publication” section of our Guidelines for Authors.
The journal does not charge any fees for the submission, processing, and publication of articles (including translation into English). Once the article is submitted, the journal reserves the right to make modifications to the form, content, and style of the original text at various stages of the editorial process, always informing the authors of such changes for their review and approval.
The journal’s abbreviated title is Rev. Colomb. Ortop. Traumatol. This should be used when referencing content published in our journal.
